The Great Challenge
Many believers are eager to build God’s house, but they are building according to men’s definition of God’s house. Firstly, no one can build God’s house except Jesus. He said: “I will build My church…” (Matt. 18:16).
If you want to be used by Jesus to build God’s house, it’s important for you to know what God says His house is.
Here is God’s house according to the scriptures that cannot be broken or compromised;
- And we, (believers) as living stones are God’s house (Heb. 3:6) not bricks.
- All of us (believers) together are the house of God (1 Cor. 3:16).
- Together we (believers) are His house (Eph. 2:20).
- We are carefully joined together (unity) to become God’s house where God dwells by His Spirit (Eph. 2:21-22).
- And you (believers) are living stones that God is using to build His spiritual house (1 Pet. 2:5).
QUESTION
Why are we building luxurious cathedrals for our comfort and what God regards as His house that is
“ALL OF US TOGETHER” is in ruins; divided and scattered? (Haggai 1:4).
When Jesus came out of the Jordan River, the Holy Spirit proceeded from the Father and dwelt in Him (Matt 3:16). From that moment, God began to dwell in Christ through His Spirit.
“For God in all His fullness was pleased to live in Christ.” (Col. 1:19).
“For in Christ dwells all the fullness of God in a human body.” (Col. 2:9).
That was why God said that He was well pleased with Christ (Matt. 3:17) even though Christ had not yet preached or healed anyone at the time. God found a place to dwell on earth not made with human hands.
When Christ ascended to heaven, God could only now dwell in Jesus’ body on earth.
When you support unity of His body, God will be well pleased with you too, as He did with Jesus the head.
It is time to arise and build by revelation and not by emotions, following the undiscerning crowd.
When God wanted to dwell in a brick Temple, the people turned their attention to building their own personal houses (Haggai 1-4). Now that God wants to dwell in the living body of Christ – our unity, majority of leaders are leading the people to turn away and build physical cathedrals.
If I was a pastor, I will build a cathedral and a beautiful one for that matter but I will do it with my left hand because of what Jesus told me in Mark 13:2 while I give my right hand to Jesus to be used to build the house God lives by His Spirit.
If you live by God’s Word, join the chariot building according to the pattern of the apostles with Jesus Christ as the Chief Cornerstone (Eph. 2:20). So that at the feet of Christ, you will be rewarded accordingly.
While we need physical cathedrals for our dwelling, God needs us for His dwelling.
