Genesis of The Jesus Dream
Adam appeared as a full grown man. He did not grow into manhood and so he messed up. Jesus had to grow. It took thirty years before He began to make impact He made an everlasting impact. Whatever God is involved with for eternal purpose must grow over time.
TJD has been growing over thirty-four years and now in 2024 we shall see its angelic spread. Come along and get to know about the process.
In 1989, a woman offended Emmanuel Oje Ehimika (Preacherman) in Benin-City, Edo State, South South, Nigeria, so Emmanuel got the police to arrest her. She was put behind the counter at the Police Station. After she made some phone calls, she was removed from behind the counter and Emmanuel was thrown in there. What? Emmanuel became the accused. He never knew she was an influential woman no one could embarrass in Edo State at that time. His case was lodged with the Commissioner of Police and the woman’s thugs made up their minds to kill him. But when an elderly Magistrate came to the Police Station to enquire about the case, Emmanuel ran out to meet the Magistrate. He explained himself and told the Magistrate he was related to another Judge whom the Magistrate knew. The Magistrate then began to call certain dignitaries right there to put an end to the case.
When Emmanuel heard the names of the dignitaries the Magistrate had called, and the threats of the woman’s thugs he knew he was done staying in Benin City. As soon as he was let off the hook, he emptied his house within hours into his uncle’s house in Benin City and relocated to Auchi, Edo State, where he was born. It was at that time he returned back to his walk with the Lord. He had given his life to Christ in 1972 during the Scripture Union revivals and was active; attending camp meetings but he backslided. This incident got him back on line with God.
In June 1989, Emmanuel Oje Ehimika, (Preacherman), his wife, Bisi, and two daughters were on their way to Lagos, South-West Nigeria from Benin City, Edo State, Nigeria, when they decided to take a detour for sightseeing in the famous city of Abeokuta, the capital of Ogun State, South West, Nigeria, where the first Church in Nigeria is located.
As soon as they arrived at the city, he heard God say, “Stay here.” Without batting an eyelid, he told his wife that God just told him they should stay in the City. Then as they drove further into the heart of the City, he located the office of an Estate Agent and approached the agency for an accommodation.
The agent offered him a duplex in Asero Estate which he accepted; but told the agent he didn’t have the means of instant payment since he had only seven naira ($0.02) on him which he didn’t want to part with. However, he assured the agent that he had just been instructed by God to stay in the City and that the bill will be paid later.
For a while, the estate manager stared at him strangely but eventually gave him the keys to the apartment and his family moved into it without furniture and all the necessary home accessories.
They did not know a single soul in the City neither did they have any business deals to lean on for financial support. It was a crazy radical obedience. Just as Abraham left for the unknown land so Preacherman stayed in unfamiliar land.
As soon as they moved into the house, he returned to Benin City to get all his motivational booklets, and started delivering motivational talks in schools to generate funds.
After a while, God instructed him to invite all the Christians living in the estate where they live, irrespective of their denominations to start a fellowship in his house with the aim of fostering unity among the brethren. It was named Asero Christian Fellowship, (ACF), Abeokuta, Ogun State, Nigeria.
Emmanuel and Bisi prepared a feast in preparation for the first meeting. Surprisingly, many turned up; including extremists who rarely mixed with other Christians. On retrospect, this meeting aptly signified the foundation of what is today known as The Jesus Dream (TJD).
The Fellowship continued for some years until they moved out of the Estate. However, it was unknown to them that the foundation for a worldwide gathering had been laid.
On April 28, 1993 Emmanuel pioneered the first Christian television ministry, Hour of Refreshing on NTA, Abeokuta City, Ogun State, Nigeria, same city where the first Church building in Nigeria is located.
On January 30, 1994, Emmanuel, started the Roots Christian Centre Church which was later closed down in 2004 after it served its purpose in helping him to acquire the knowledge of the challenges pastors face, so he could minister to them effectively.
In the year 2000, his Radio and Television motivational talk programme titled – Splashes of Challenge was one of the foremost motivational talk shows in Nigeria, solely aired free on OGBC II, Abeokuta, LTV and Eko FM, Lagos, Nigeria.
On May 22, 1996, the Federal Government of Nigeria through her agency; Federal Ministry of Education organised a national symposium where Emmanuel addressed the first-ever lecture on Character Formation in Nigeria, targeted at inculcating in the nation’s youths, the development of excellence in Character and Success in academic pursuit. That epoch event was chaired by the then Honourable Minister of State for Education.
In 2001, Emmanuel founded the Strategic Mothers vision aimed at instructing mothers in guiding their children into fulfilling their divine purposes. He published the Strategic Mothers book that was circulated world-wide and was rated by world celebrious ministers as one of the best books on motherhood ever written.
In November 2004, Emmanuel was led by God to close down his church and began to use his experience to write and publish Ministers Alive Magazine aimed at encouraging Ministers of God and fostering unity among them. The magazine, (hard copies), were given free of charge world-wide. It swept through Africa to the global scene with testimonies and commendations from both renowned and up-coming Christian leaders about its impact. Then in 2010, Emmanuel outset The Jesus Dream (TJD) annual World-Wide prayer for unity, now translated into The Jesus Dream (TJD) Worldwide Worship Hour – an hour; 9pm Jerusalem time (all countries correlate their time) on June 30 every year when all believers across the world worship God in unity by declaring the wonderful works of God at the same hour exactly as it happened on the day the church began
What many thought as an impossible feat began to grow over the years, attracting Radio/TV sponsorships running to millions of dollars free of charge across the world to become The Most Unifying Christian Experience Since Pentecost.
In 1996, in the office of Archbishop Benson Idahosa in Benin City, Edo State, Nigeria, the Archbishop got up from his chair, met Emmanuel at the door where he stood refusing to sit down as requested by the Archbishop until he sorted out a matter with the Archbishop. The Archbishop told him to kneel down, and he laid his hands upon Emmanuel by the door and made prophetic declarations. It was a private unceremonial divine encounter of laying on of hands for a unique kingdom work unknown to both of them.
In 2008, before God spoke to Preacherman about TJD in 2010, Pastor Sunday Adelaja, Founder, The Embassy of the Blessed Kingdom of God for All Nations, Ukraine, whom Preacherman had never met wrote him a letter that God told him (Pastor Adelaja) while in prayer that He (God) will use Emmanuel to “heal” the global body of Christ.
Also, Pastor Wole Oladiyun, Senior Pastor, Christ Livingspring Apostolic Ministry, Lagos Nigeria, called Preacherman on phone in 2009 and said God told him that Emmanuel will have a Worldwide Radio Ministry for Him.
In 2002, while still pastoring an assembly, a man was ushered into Emmanuel’s office and the man told him; “you are sitting down here looking at your Church but you have a worldwide ministry ahead.” Then the man disappeared immediately. There was only one door into where he met Emmanuel, so four of his staff who saw the man come in, were equally alarmed, when they didn’t see him go out. Surely, an angel had visited, Emmanuel to announce the global assignment ahead of him.
In 2010, when Emmanuel was exactly fifty years, he asked the Lord what his purpose in life really is and God told him he was born to be used for the physical manifestation of the unity of the body that Jesus shed His blood to accomplish spiritually. He was instructed to start The Jesus Dream Worldwide Hour.
He used money from their former church building which was sold to finance the adverts for the maiden edition of The Jesus Dream (TJD). That was a radical decision.
When TJD was advertised in the media ahead of the maiden edition in 2010, Bishop David Oyedepo, Bishop of Living Faith Ministries Worldwide, Ota, Nigeria, was the very first Minister of God who called Preacherman personally on June 23, 2010, to encourage him about the TJD move. Pastor E. A. Adeboye, General Overseer; The Redeemed Christian Church of God Worldwide, Lagos, Nigeria, wrote to pray with him and sent an offering for the 2010 TJD. He wrote and sent offering again for TJD 2020.
During TJD 2011, God used Dr. David Yonggi Cho, Chairman, Church Growth International, Seoul, South Korea, (Pastor of the largest church congregation in the world) to encourage Emmanuel immensely, when he personally wrote to appreciate what God was doing through Emmanuel’s ministry globally and then came into agreement with Emmanuel over TJD. He personally wrote back again after the TJD hour to say that they participated in TJD 2011.
Many renowned leaders in the body of Christ globally have been used by God to strengthen Preacherman’s hands over TJD, knowingly or unknowingly.
Pat Robert, Chairman of the Board, Christian Broadcasting Network (CBN), Virginia Beach, USA, wrote in to appreciate God’s work through TJD and prayed for Preacherman. Most Rev. Gustavo Garcia-Siller, M.Sp.S, Archbishop of Catholic Archdiocese of San Antonio, USA, wrote in to encourage and pray with Preacherman. Dr. Mike Okonkwo, Presiding Bishop, The Redeemed Evangelical Mission (TREM), Lagos, Nigeria, personally wrote to encourage Preacherman and also sent an offering to support the 2017 TJD. Precisely on June 14, 2013, at Transcorp Hilton Hotel, Abuja, Nigeria, Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor, as Chairman of Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), threw his weight behind TJD when in a joint Press Conference with Preacherman, he said: “The Jesus Dream is a unique move of God from Nigeria to bless the world. Everyone should join to support and promote it.” He sent information to all CAN State Chapters to observe the hour, and used his ministry television outreach African Broadcasting Network (ABN) to advertise TJD. Apostle Frederick K. C. Price, Presiding Prelate, Crenshaw Christian Center, Los Angeles, USA, wrote personally and prayed for success of TJD. Dr. Myles Munroe, President, The Bahamas Faith Ministries International, Bahamas, wrote in to pray for TJD. Kenneth and Gloria Copeland, Senior Pastor, Kenneth Copeland Ministries, USA, sent greetings in a card and prayed for Preacherman concerning TJD.
Archbishop Alfred Adewale Martins, Catholic Archbishop of Lagos, Lagos, Nigeria, wrote to encourage him and prayed for TJD; and also Bishop J. D. Bagobiri, Catholic Bishop of Kafanchan, South Central, Nigeria who advertised TJD on their Telegram Network. Richard Robert, President Oral Robert Ministries, USA, wrote and prayed for the success of TJD, staff, and partners.
Some Ministers and believers in Nigeria continued to support the ministry with monthly freewill offerings to sustain the One Year Plan For One Hour Worship.
In 2013, God began to stir up hearts of Media Executives to promote TJD free of charge. The initial sacrifice of using money from the sale of the former Church building to pay for TJD adverts began to yield harvest. In Nigeria, free adverts spearheaded by AIT, NTA, ABN, Guardian and Vanguard Newspaper and many others began to spread TJD. Adverts began to spread from Nigeria to other Nations of the world.
In addendum, between 2013-2015, Dr. (Mrs) Catherine Okpareke, FCA; mni, former President of Institute of Chartered Accountant of Nigeria (ICAN), also acted as the TJD Global Campaign Executive and she took TJD to USA, Ghana, Ethiopia, Australia, even to the Fiji Island, China. She also reached out to media houses that aired TJD adverts free of charge.
Lady (Mrs) Ezinwa Ezeka, former Director, National Environmental Standards & Regulations Enforcement Agency reached out to Churches in Austria, USA. She and Mrs. Miranda Amachree were used by God to break into Israel with TJD, while Lady (Mrs.) Constance Nnadi, Director, Department of Private Universities, National Universities Commission (NUC) reached out to Churches and media houses in USA and UK.
On June 13, 2013 at the Ecumenical Centre, Abuja, Nigeria, which is the centre of unity for all Christians in Nigeria, Preacherman poured oil over the globe on which maps of all the nations of the world are designed. As the oil flowed down over the maps of all the nations of the world, the globe rotated while the pulpit on which he stood also rotated. This was a prophetic action instructed by the Holy Spirit that as the oil flowed over all nations of the world on the globe, so TJD will flow round the world. That’s what we are seeing worldwide today.
On July 1st, 2013 after the fourth gathering of TJD, the Holy Spirit instructed Preacherman to take believers back to the root of pure worship by declaring the wonderful works of God at the TJD hour as it was done on the day the Church was born (Acts 2:11). This understanding became the mode of worship for subsequent years by declaring the wonderful works of God.
In 2014, Archbishop Margaret Benson Idahosa gave instruction that all the Church of God Mission International Worldwide Churches should participate in The Jesus Dream worship hour. That became the first renowned ministry to release their members officially to be part of this move of God concerning the body of Christ.
In May 2015, more media houses in some nations of the world after reading the contents on TJD website began to promote TJD, and thus, it began to spread across the world speedily.
In 2016, the Holy Spirit instructed Preacherman again to announce that all Countries of the World should correlate their TJD time with Jerusalem time. Jerusalem is the centre of the nations of the world (Ezek. 5:5), and God’s time clock for the world.
In the same year, the spread of TJD was angelic. In the morning hours of June 30, 2016, the ministry received two letters; one from Christian Information Centre, Jaffa Gate, Jerusalem, Israel and the other from New Covenant Church, Humble, Texas, USA informing us of their readiness for TJD. It became a concrete sign of the broken walls between the Jews and Gentiles in worship. More media houses came on board across the world during the 2017 and 2018 TJD gatherings.
We received free TJD adverts from numerous media houses including: St Kitts and Nevis, Central America, Decatur GA, USA, Abuja, Ibadan, Lagos, Nigeria, Kitchener, Nova Scotia, Ontario, Canada, East London, Cape Town, Pretoria, Johannesburg, South Africa, Tottenham, London, St Vincent & The Grenadines, Paris, France, Tamil, Gujurat, India, Commonwealth of Dominica, Codrington, Antigua & Barbuda, Cayman Island, United Kingdom, Cameroon, Castries, St Lucia, North America, Rue De Holland, French West Indies, Windkeok, Namibia, Kampala, Uganda, Manaman, Bahrain, Atlanta, Nashville, Peoria Illinois, United States, Sydney, Australia, and many others across the world.
Adverts are spreading globally through the organised electronic media: radio/television, print media and social media.
Also many discerning pastors across the world have started mobilising their members to be part of the TJD worship hour. Pastors now have their own TJD adverts inviting people to observe TJD at the hour in their churches.
On July 18, 2018, Preacherman’s first wife, Bisi who started TJD with him; sharing handbills in the Asero Estate, for fellowship when TJD was birthed, slept in the Lord; two months after his mother also slept in the Lord. It was followed months after on February 2021 by the passing on to glory also of Preacherman’s personal assistant Daniel Usifoh who was very dedicated in his support. It was a difficult time for Preacherman but he kept marching on by God’s grace.
In all these years, he has had a close team made up of James Charles, Onisodumeya Charles, Paul Elijah, Joel Joseph and Enoch Ehimika. Together, they stand carrying out this mandate in season and out of season till date.
Some ministers especially in Abeokuta his base out of envy, tried everything possible to discourage other ministers from coming on board TJD but it never worked as God kept proving His hand upon Preacherman and the vision. Today, all partners of TJD are glad seeing the move of God with their partnership.
More media houses came on board for the June 2019, edition and during the lockdown in June 2020 the TJD gathering was even more understood by believers because the advert for TJD had been worship from Wherever You Are. Since the lockdown kept most believers at home they believed more in the vision, since the lockdown couldn’t stop TJD worship hour.
On November 26, 2020, Emmanuel got married to his second wife, Christie who assists him in the ministry and has given speed by God’s grace to the language translation project. She is the Global Language Translation Executive.
Preacherman explained to her about the importance of language and she made contacts with Europe and United States of America in search of translators and finally settled with a professional translation company in United States of America and two other companies in Nigeria for local translations with in-house staff for the global building project.
They started with the translation of Hebrew language and several other languages. Responses from over two thousand (2,000) cities were received in 2021.
Then the next year, 2022, Preacherman was not led into TJD jingle translations but TJD was advertised by the official television stations of renowned denominations like; The Methodist Church, Anglican Communion, Baptist Church, Redeemed Christian Church of God, and many others showing the finger of God at work in pulling down walls of denomination.
In 2023, Preacherman was led to invite believers to sponsor languages and God opened the hearts of over 95% of those he called, to respond positively. All most spoken Nigerian languages and some foreign languages were sponsored. So the TJD of June 30, 2023 was awesome as the number of worshippers across the world soared.
A Minister in Lagos, Nigeria sponsored Swahili, Bini, Igala, Idoma languages and after June 30, 2023 TJD he called again and financed the translation of Ndonga language, all on behalf of their ministry. Believers sponsor as many languages as they can afford. Some who had sponsored languages told their friends who also in turn sponsored languages. The languages are translated, hosted on the internet, and promoted on behalf of the facilitators. And its theirs permanently with their family names on the YouTube description page.
Sponsors are fulfilled because due to their sponsorship of languages, those who speak these languages, hear the jingle in their native tongues and they join the body of Christ globally in worship at the hour.
As at January 2024, we had translated many languages including Most Spoken Languages in the world, spoken by about five billion people, ready for spread for TJD 2024 and afterwards. The language translation is continuing as individuals, families or ministries call on us to sponsor languages of their choice.
As from April 2024, we are launching forth TJD Jingle Share-A-Thon. Believers will be able to access TJD jingle in translated languages and share with those who speak those languages inviting them to the worship hour, thus raising worshippers for God (John 4:23).
This a very fulfilling assignment – to raise worshippers for God.
Welcome to TJD June 30, 2024.
