THE SACRIFICE

Just before the Israelites left Egypt, God blessed them with material wealth transferred from the Egyptians. (Exod. 12:36).
As they journeyed towards the land of Promise, God told Moses to take an offering from the children of Israel.
“Speak to the children of Israel that they bring Me an offering” (Exod. 25:2a).
The offering was for one purpose- to build Him a dwelling place in their midst. (Exod. 25:8).
The first offering God requested from Israel as a congregation was for His dwelling place.
God made it clear to Moses that the offering should be collected from certain class of people - those who will give it willingly from their hearts without cajoling.
“From everyone who gives it willingly with his heart; you shall take My offering.” (Exod. 25:2b).
The motivation for giving this offering must be purely out of love for God.
This offering separates those who sincerely hunger for His presence in their midst, from those who hunger for His presents.
The offering was a shadow of a reality to come!
The Israelites willingly gave this offering for God to dwell in their midst; because Jesus Christ would willingly become flesh for God to dwell in Him on earth as a perfect sanctuary.
“For in Christ all the fullness of the Deity lives in bodily form.” (Col 2:9).

At a time, David thought of all God had done for him and he wanted to do something for God. Something that mattered to God most. He found out God’s only passion – His dwelling place on earth.

David: God, let me build You a dwelling place. (Acts 7:46).
God: Your intention is good but I will not allow you build my dwelling place. (1 Kings 8:18-19).
David: Why Lord?
God: You have shed too much blood in my sight so you can’t build my dwelling place.                 (1 Chron. 22:8).
David: Okay Lord, but will you allow me make all the provisions ready for the building?
God: Go ahead. I will allow you that privilege.
David: Thank you Lord. I will begin making the provisions ready. (1 Chron. 22:5; 14).
God was moved to bless David and He said:
God: “...I will build a house for you…My sure mercy will rest upon your family.” (1 Chron. 17:10-13).
This blessing came up to Jesus Christ when God said: “I will give you the blessings I promised David.” (Acts 13:34).
God who determines where His name will dwell, (Deut. 12:11), has now in our time chosen to dwell in the Body of Christ, (unity of Christians), on earth.
We are living stones. (1 Peter 2:5): “…being built together for a dwelling place for God in the Spirit.” (Eph. 2:22).
So in our unity God dwells.
This is the vision of The Jesus Dream- uniting the body of Christ in worship for God’s dwelling.

He is the same yesterday today and forever. (Heb. 13:8). God blessed David’s family because he chose to build God’s dwelling place. As you move to honour His Word, something awesome will manifest in your family.
This is the reason you are encouraged to support TJD on behalf of your family.
Every believer should be zealous about God’s present dwelling place. See how David was zealous about it. When it was a physical structure.
“Surely I will not come into the tabernacle of my house, nor go up into my bed. I will not give sleep to mine eyes, or slumber to mine eyelids, until I find out a place for the Lord, an habitation for the mighty God of Jacob.” (Psa. 132:3-5).
No wonder he was a man after God’s heart.
Today the dwelling place of God is no longer in physical buildings but in the spiritual building - unity of the body. As you support unity of the body through TJD you activate the mercies of God which is yours already.
